Red Dwarf started as a cult BBC 2 Television series and has evolved into the fourth biggest selling BBC2 programme of all time. It is BBC2's longest running and highly rated sitcom and now enjoys international appeal around the globe. In all eight series and fifty two episodes have been made and a movie is currently in production.

On the Jupiter Mining Corporation ship Red Dwarf, the crew are dead, killed by a radiation leak. The only survivors were Dave Lister - who was in suspended animation during the disaster - and his pregnant cat who was safely sealed in the hold. Revived three million years later by Holly- the ship's computer, Lister's only companions are a life form who evolved from his cat and Arnold Rimmer, a hologram simulation of one of the dead crew.
